You will see many Mission/Arts & Crafts Lamps & Clocks We have collected. They are all made from Quarter Sawn oak & from the 1900 to 1915 era in time.
_Some of the Arts & Crafts clocks & lamps I buy are in need of repairs .
I enjoy restoring them back to Original condition & the dark fumed color they also had. Some of them were painted with several colors of paint (yellow, green, white, blue), and had broken or missing pieces which I then remade using antique Oak pieces from destroyed Mission furniture in that same period (1900-1915). I have 3 types of Mission clocks..... Wall clock, Floor (grandfather) & Mission Mantel. Click the page tabs to view my clocks at the top of this page You will see most of mine are a darker brown/ black in color which was the color & finish that was done by most manufactures in that period of time.If you come across Mission clocks that are a light color Oak , It has probably been stripped of the original finish & re stained to a lighter color. When the Mission era was ending about 1915 to 1920 , folks got tired of the darkness in color of the Oak pieces & started to replace the finish with a lighter color stain & still continues that practice today. That is why it's hard to find a dark fumed piece that's untouched . What I do is called preserving American History. All clocks on this site were Made in the USA from these American company's:The New Haven, Gilbert, Sessions , National, Western & Ingraham Clock Company's. I found & bought these clocks & lamps from many different states thru-out the USA, by using the Internet & going to Antique markets . Enjoy! - leave feedback & take a Clock Poll, if you wish..... on the tabs above |
